Now that WordPress has become the number one real estate website solution in the world, the ability to feature real estate listings directly in relevant pages and posts would seem to be an essential requirement for the modern Realtor. After working with many dozens of Realtors, Automotive Dealers and other sales professionals that require a sort of gallery method for the presentation of their products and services, we had come up with this very solution; The WordPress Featured Listings Plugin.

There are about 6 popular methods bloggers can use to present properties and products on their sites using this type of featured format, and three of them were developed by us. Installation, Setup and Configuration

To install and setup the WP Featured Plugin in your WordPress blog you simply add-on simply upload the plugin to your WordPress plugin directory and activate it or use one of the following methods outlined below;

Installing Plug-in From WordPress Admin Panel

  • Log in as administrator to your blog and click on the Plugins menu link then the Add New link. Then simply;
  • A) Navigate to the downloaded plugin zip file on your computer by selecting the browse button or;
  • B) Search for the plugin in by typing in “Featured Listings” with the tag option selected then find our plugin.
  • Navigate to the plugin editor and type in the root path to OpenRealty (available next release).

Configuring the plugin

  • Simply navigate to the plugin under Settings.
  • Fill in all the fields with the criteria you want the featured listings to be sorted by.
  • Select the template you wish to use for the featured listings display.
  • Add the numeric value for how many featured listings to rotate.
  • Add the template tag like { featured_4 } to the page or post you want the Featured Listings to be displayed on.
  • Style or customize the templates to meet your design requirements. Template file is located in the /wp-content/plugins/wp-featured/templates/ directory. The template featured_x.html must NOT be deleted. New templates should be named as featured_2.html, featured_3.html and so on.
