Paul Bouchard Claims Code Stolen

Paul Bouchard’s Accusation: Why is the code encrypted?

Its been discussed and even proposed by Paul Bourchard that the EZPro Realty (now called JRealty) and WP Realty projects have been encrypted to disguise the use of his inherited CMS Realtys code and we would like to say that nothing could be further from the truth.  You are free to examine the only true nature of the URL structure on my demo located at http://joomlarealestate.livedemosite.com

No stranger to reckless claims against others, developers state that he really does behave much like a tattle tale according to his competitors.  Al Smith and Judson Cooper of JNT Computers  allege that Paul went as far as contacting persons known to have contractual relationships with Smith and Cooper apparently not realizing the potential TORT violations he could bring down on his head.

I don’t think Paul is an evil guy or even one that is crazy, maybe it was a little frustration, anger and jumping the gun that prompted the claims. If so, we forgive him.

However, I am happy to say that after Steve at the Joomla.org website asked to examine the code I quickly submitted a copy, documentation and an in depth email detailing the history of the application and the name and phone number of the developers.  Happy with what he examined they re-activated our plugin for download in the components library.  Wow, all that just to respond to a reckless allegation.

Anyway, I’m glad to see that a full day blown to defending ourselves yet again has been victorious.  Its becoming a habit defending ourselves from some of these OR types so all responses in the future regarding his claims are now canned responses. I will simply cite his claim and point you to this very post where you can listen to our response.

Keep in mind that after we consider all he writes, all he says, and all he does, we happily put forth our spokes person in the same age group as the assailant who states the following regarding his efforts.

    Jared,

The point of my posts were to protect code released under the GPL and the people thar use it. Your ezpro Joomla plugin is generating links with option=com_cmsrealty in them which makes it obvious that it was taken from CMS Realty which is released under the GPL. You have taken this code and encrypted it without providing the source which violates the GPL. If you have changed that, great but it still shows where you got your code and even modified code that was released under the GPL is still covered by the GPL.

As to Al Smith and JNT, I have proof that they stole the code from one of my addons and are reselling it as there own. I have had 4 independent people review the code from both addons and they all came to the same conclusion. Do people really want to do business with people who takes someone else’s code and sell it as their own?

I did not go on a searching spree to dig out all your addons and download them. Show me proof of that. The only one I have downloaded is the joomla plugin as someone told me about the cms_realty links and I wanted to see it for myself.

Regardless, I won’t bother you anymore. My time will be better spent completing the fully functional CMS Realty version for 1.5. It will be free and open source.

Hey man, long post but you are right on about this bullshit at open reatly. I’m so tired of going to that site in fear that any question I ask will be deleted. I’m a professional realtor and I wouldn’t stand for them beating me up in their forum publicly. I’d simply sue them if they ever treated me the way they do some people.

I googled your name today and found a post about you on ryans site where more people post the same old frustrations with pbflash but i honestly hope ryan changes things.

BTW is saw your demo and there is no documentation, do you really believe pbflash is going to publish his addon to compete with yours?

Mark, too busy to read those things really but thanks for the heads up.

I think Ryan will impose a change on his forum. the_sandfreak is another one that has little or no respect for anyone either. Ryan would do good to bag both these guys and leave Mick in charge. I have respect for Mick even though he can get out of hand on rare occasions but he at least is willing to come back and correct himself. But if he must keep the_sandstain then maybe he could limit him to just saying “Yes sir!, No sir!” in all his posts because at least that would be casually positive.

Hello Jared, yes I think your point is exactly what they are trying to do.

Jealous of your work and I’m in 100% agreement with your assessment, they wants your code.

Thanks for your headsup, Paul thinks we use his code from CMS Realty and we have extended an offer to Joomla to examine the code. Paul must have got that idea in his head because he looked at some of Chads clients in his portfolio and saw that way back when Joomla 1.0.12 was out his clients used CMS Realty. But if you look at our URLs compared to his its easy to see that this is not the case. Amazing why anyone would be so reckless.

I’m so annoyed at this now, I’m taking the balance of the day off to gain perspective. Paul’s claim against EZPro Realty is pure vindictiveness and now that the code has been verified today at 10AM to NOT be a CMS Realty. Paul was reckless and this really ruins my day. You can’t just claim something without evidence and expect to run away from causing damages. How truly unfortunate, I like Paul but he did this to himself.

Yes, there may also be another lawsuit for extortion. He has been contacting developers at http://www.OpenRealtyAddons.com and telling them if they do not remove their code from the site, he will release a cheaper.. or free version. You can read the post over at http://www.openrealtyaddons.com/blog

I know and that’s what concerns me, as a teacher, I don’t like being subject to such things but apparently the team that developed JRealty were not very happy at all either. Contacting people in a “Known Contractual Relationship” is a TORT related offense. Its actionable if in the contact the intent to cause harm is mentioned. You could be right about extortion too.
