Real Estate Listing Plugin for WordPress demo is in beta

I published a demo of the WP plugin over on my blog at The Brokers Edge should anyone want to check it out. Just visit the front page and click on the user blogs page and there will be a link.

I’m not putting links to external sites on my blogs front page anymore after chatting with some SEO types. Blogs are great tools for SEO but We have come up with a few proprietary tools for making the blogs rock even more and even though I really want to just spit it out I’m under obligation not to just yet. But good news is these proprietary methods will likely be 100% Free.

The WordPress Real Estate plugin is giving my programmer some serious challenges. I told him early on that a normalized database is essential because of my intention on using it with a few MLS IDX and RETS solutions. Previously they have been hard coded and honestly I don’t see us getting past this in the initial release of the plugin. I have already accepted that as a reality and started on the scripts for some tutorials on how to manually edit and or create database tables and fields.

Please keep in mind that this blog is being moved to /blog on this domain because I’m installing a commercial script for SEF called SEF Advanced for Joomla and a commercial magazine component. Because of me working on both domains at the same time I’ll be in and out of TBE while I do edits and some clean up of the source code. Hey, its further than it was two weeks ago and now only a stones toss from being complete enough to release.

WordPress Real Estate Plugin Update 2

It looks like the plugin will be released this months end unless other things pop up but the programmer noted that in order to meet my requirement of a FULLY NORMALIZED database structure some manual edits will be required by end users upon initial release. When I set the requirement for database normalization I had in mind the likely potential that some Realtor would want to import either RETS or IDX listings into his WordPress blog and given that some MLS’s can be very large, duplicate database content could explode to such a degree that the entire blog could suffer performance issues. So for example, if an agent represents say 5 or so areas or even cities in the agents area it would be prudent to only have those 5 areas entered one time. The same is true of many common elements like number of beds or say state for example. The old method and the most common method is to have “state” entered with each and every listing which is find if you only have a few hundred properties but when you move into the big boys realm and end up with several thousand listings it becomes a waste of space to put in CA (california) 2,000 times when its really only needed once.

Well because of this absolute non flexible requirement I put on this plugin coding is taking a bit longer than we expected. But hey, its worth it in the long run to get the code as clean and accurate as possible as we start bug hunting.

Joomla and SEF Advance Replacing this blog

Well this is one of my last posts of its kind in this blog as I decided that my purchase of SEF Advance and Joomla would better serve my objectives. So the blog will be moved to /blog and further posts not product or WordPress plugin related will go on one of my other blogs around the web.

I had wanted to post a portfolio and code snippet inventory here for others to use but I do so very little design work on an individual basis that it would be almost moot. However I’ve started publishing code snippets over at DaniWeb.com and I’ll make available the downloads here later in the week.

FREE Realtor Blogs!

Heads UP, FREE Realtor and Real Estate Marketing Blog

Here is a little blurb for a new service over at The Brokers Edge. Mack, Mark and myself came up with 4 proprietary code elements designed to set this new service apart from all the rest when it comes to Realtor SEO and Marketing. How? Well by not just providing a free blog (thats been done to death) and its not very exciting! Right?

Now any one can go out and put up folders and load up free blogs which is about as exciting as watching dust settle on my H2 (because I cant afford the gas) but why do such a silly thing when you can do so much more. Yes, my thoughts exactly. So, I’ll pat myself on the back and give our clever minds a bit of credit for creating something “trivial”? or “UNIQUE”!. Here is what we did, we have come up with something totally clever, 4 times proprietary, 100% user friendly, and certainly unique in about a half dozen ways and I have to maintain a choke hold on myself to not let the “cat out of the blog”. Why? That subject later;

For now you can however ask to be made part of the notification list. You will also be notified of the pending release of our Listings plugin for WordPress (due sometime before months end).

Open-Realty Joomla osCommerce Templates

Hey sorry for the long delay. I’ve been working like a mad man on the new real estate forums and plugins for TBE and I got to chatting with one of my associates about Open-Realty and we both agree the entire inventory is available for anyone for $50.

First, I’ll verify that they work with version 2.4 of Open-Realty and then I’ll extend branding free distribution rights for an additional fee making the total $149.95 You get all 32 custom open-realty templates to brand, resell, do whatever you want. Is that psychotic? Maybe, I mean some wise ass could just buy it one time and publish all of them for free thereby destroying my chance at selling any more. Well I’m a tad more clever than that and had already thought of such an event but the templates are only the icing on the cake because I’m including the code snippets and other assorted source files as the incentive because those items are commercially LICENSED products that I’m not granting re-distribution rights to. You can sell the hell out of templates or do whatever you please with in the license agreement but you wont be granted the right to sell my codes and snippets or resources.

But hey, need an instant template inventory for your clients? Okay, I’ll sell you one. You can publish it to your hosting company, website, template club or any other place you can benefit from this. But I’ll retain rights on my code foundation and source files. Call me or email me for details.

Joomla and osCommerce templates will follow but the first of those will likely be osCommerce because I have like 35 concepts I built while learning the template methods in osCommerce. I’ll keep you posted.

I need to get back to work before I get slapped for being late.

Knowledge - A Valuable Commodity

How to stay on the cutting edge of information the easy way.

With the vast amount of information we are required to take in on a daily basis its easy to suffer from information overload and its ugly side effects. One such side effect from information overload is called “The Fog of War” by the military as moments semi-controlled chaos and confusion set in and mistakes can be tragically made. Business is no different and we pride ourselves on having the kinds of information we need as current and accurate as can be.

Since no one truly wants to make decisions based on less than all the facts the goal would seem to be to have the most up to date news and information one can garner in a manageable and familiar format. Therein lies the true power of RSS and news feeds.
